Is there anything better than tender, juicy, falling-off-the-bones ribs? My mouth is watering just looking at this photo! There are many ways to prepare ribs but thanks to soccer season's approach (aka limited supper prep time), I have been scouring my cookbooks for slow cooker recipes that will allow me to get everything ready in the morning so that when we come home from a (victorious, of course!) soccer match at 7:30 p.m., I have nothing to do for supper other than grab plates from the cupboard. For this recipe I combined the process of Ree Drummond's slow cooker glazed ribs (from The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Come and Get It! cookbook; I love her recipes and step-by-step instructions combined with her cute comments!) with a glaze recipe that I found in my stack of torn-out magazine recipes (judging by the color of the paper, I tore it out a few decades ago...) and then I added a little twist of my own...maraschino cherry liquid. The recipe turned out fantastic! My family loved it and true to claim, the meat fell off the ribs...yum! It was the perfect supper to wrap up our day. For sides, I warmed up leftover dinner rolls, set out a simple garden salad that I'd made earlier in the day, and zapped a few medium-sized red potatoes in the microwave while my son was showering up. All-in-all, a very simple but hearty meal to put on the table with minimal prep time. *Starting out with ribs, cut in half, placed in the slow cooker insert* *Mixing up the yummy glaze* Slow Cooker BBQ Pork Ribs Servings: 4 Ingredients: One 2 1/2– to 3-lb package pork ribs 1 small onion, sliced 6 garlic cloves 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1/2 cup prepared BBQ sauce 3 Tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce 3 Tbsp ketchup 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp liquid smoke 4 Tbsp liquid from jar of maraschino cherries Directions: 1. Spray the insert of slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. 2. Cut the ribs in half and arrange in insert. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. 3. Spread onion slices and garlic cloves around ribs. 4. Place the lid on the slow cooker and set to low. 5. In a small bowl, mix together BBQ sauce, sweet chili sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, and liquid from a jar of maraschino cherries. 6. After approximately 8 hours of cooking time, remove insert and drain liquid. Replace insert and carefully spoon prepared sauce evenly over ribs, reserving some sauce for serving alongside ribs. 7. Replace lid and allow ribs to cook for another 15 minutes on high or up to 1 hour on low.
